An old suitcase turned coffee table, antique frames holding chalkboard grocery lists. Whether you call it shabby chic, upcycling or rustic, the latest in home design trends is taking Pinterest boards by storm and has envious houseguests asking “where’d you find that?!”
The answer is: if you want to hop aboard this design trend, you’re going to have to hunt for it.
If you’re in North Carolina, I’ve got great news for you. No matter what you’re looking for, there’s a good chance you can find it at Cline’s Country Antiques in Mount Pleasant. While you may just find your next great DIY project (I see a #nailedit post in your future) after a day spent wandering at Cline’s, owner Donald Cline isn’t concerned about keeping up with the latest fad. He’s spent 30 years managing his collection of antique signs, decor items, furniture and self-proclaimed “junk”, hoping they find a good home.
Cline’s isn’t a place you will just stumble upon. The property, consisting of a number of barns filled with collectibles, is about 45 minutes from Uptown Charlotte and 20 minutes from Concord. A recent Saturday morning trip was enough to convince me that it’s a drive worth making. Take a look:
